Sodium Thiosulphateis an inorganic compound with the formula Na2S2O3.xH2O. Typically it is available as the white or colourless pentahydrate, Na2S2O3•5H2O. The solid is an efflorescent (loses water readily) crystalline substance that dissolves well in water. It is also called sodium hyposulfite or "hypo".

To remove chlorine from solutions according to the equation Na2S2O3 4Cl2 5H2O 2NaHSO4 8 HCL and Na2S2O3 2 HC
As “antichlor” in bleaching of paper pulp, as the fixer in photography. For extraction of silver from ores as mordant in dyeing and printing textiles: reduced in chrome dyeing manufacture leather bleaching bone, straw, ivory also as the reagent in analytical chemistry.
